Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed. A SWEET & DARLING FELLOW: Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 13 lbs. & needs to gain weight Hello – I’m Kipling! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I am so happy to be soaking up all the love from the volunteers as well as working on gaining some weight. I’m now ready to find a wonderful home of my very own with a family to love and be loved by! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met some dogs recently at Mostly Mutts and although I didn’t want to play with them, I was interested and didn’t show any aggression. If you have a nice dog at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: The volunteers describe me as a friendly, happy, and fun little guy who’s also sweet and loving. I can be very fast when someone’s trying to leash me up, but once we get going, I walk just fine. I’m active, playful, and full of charm, and everyone says I’m simply delightful to be around. During my bath, I was a little nervous, but I stood bravely at the edge of the tub, held onto my bather’s arm, and even wagged my tail. / Energy Level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, and ‘place’ commands as well as how to utilize proper door etiquette and accept friendly strangers without jumping. I look forward to learning even more. / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. / I’ve only had a few accidents on the shelter schedule, so hopefully I’ll do well once I’ve settled into my new home. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I absolutely loved being swaddled in a warm towel after my bath and carried back to my kennel - it made me feel so cozy and special. I also love toys and have a great time playing with them and I love the nice volunteers, too! / I can’t think of any dislikes yet, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I came in with a little boo boo on my top lip and it’s healing now. I’m a sweet little guy looking for a wonderful family to love that will take great care of me and help me gain a little more weight, too. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

More About Jack Chi BreedOverview:
The Jack Chi is a delightful designer breed, a cross between the spirited Chihuahua and the energetic Jack Russell Terrier. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parents, this hybrid typically inherits a compact size, weighing between 8-18 pounds and standing 10-15 inches tall. Their physical appearance varies, often featuring a short, smooth coat in colors like black, white, tan, or a combination, with alert, intelligent eyes. Temperamentally, Jack Chis are known for being playful, intelligent, and loyal companions. They possess the Chihuahua's affectionate nature and the Jack Russell's zest for life, making them engaging pets. While adaptable to apartment living due to their smaller stature, they require regular exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. They can be good with families who understand their need for consistent training and socialization, especially with younger children. Notable health considerations for the Jack Chi include potential predispositions to conditions seen in their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation, dental issues, and heart problems, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
