We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Cheerio is Looking For: Hi! I want to say "cheerio" to the unhoused life and once again have my own humans! I'd love to explore the world by their side on sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. What My Foster Says About Me: Cheerio came to us from Dogs Playing for Life (DPFL)’s Canine Center Florida, where they helped her with some basic skills and provided a supportive low-stress environment. They worked with her on loose-leash walking, and kennel and door routines, where she learned to wait for prompts from the handler. Cheerio was an active and eager participant in playgroups, and made many dog friends at CCF. A staff member from the CCF took her home for a visit and reported: "Cheerio did great dorming with me. She didn't have any accidents in the home and wasn't destructive.. Crated easily and calmly waited to be let out, even when crated overnight or for longer stretches. Cheerio wanted to join me on the bed, but wasn't brave enough to jump up herself. So we started working on the cue "elevator" where she would stand in front of me. Then I would lift her up on the bed for snuggles. Cheerio was such a sweet, gentle snuggly girl. She was also polite when I was eating my own food. She really loves chewing on sticks and gnawing on dog things (Himalayan chew + nylabone). She checked out a stuffed pumpkin toy I gave her, but (so far) left it intact" Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
