Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Scruffy! Scruffy came to us after his human died. Her family members wanted to, but were not in a position to care for him so they reached out to us. We know how hard that was for them and him. He's a sweet 2 year old Terrier mix that weighs all of 12 pounds. He is potty trained, does well in a crate, loves all humans and dogs, and shows no reaction to cats. We're working on leash training. Scruffy is adjusting well in his foster home. While he likes being outside and playing with the other dogs, he LOVES snuggling on the sofa. We've had him neutered, brought his shots up to date, and had him microchipped. He's ready for his forever home! If you're interested in Scruffy, please apply here: causeforsbpaws/forms/form/formid=3251 cause4sbpawsgmail

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
