Description
Dog Breed: Collie (medium coat). Meet Rory! Rory had a rough start to his life and is going to need a calm home full of patience to help him learn how to be a dog. He's not lived as a typical indoor pet before, so skills like house training and leash walking are still brand new to him. But we know he's got it in him to learn, and he definitely deserves to be a pampered pup! He's already shown us he loves treats and pets, and every day we see him gain confidence. We know that with a dedicated family willing to give him time and encouragement, he will shine. He's done well meeting other dogs here, and a friendly dog roommate may help him feel more confident in his new home. If you're looking for a sweet dog to join your family, stop by between 11am-5:30pm to meet him. Are you viewing my information on a third party site like Petfinder? Make sure you stop by .loudoun.gov/animals to see the most up-to-date information about me! I might already have an adoption pending!

Overview:
The Collie, a majestic and intelligent breed, originates from Scotland where they were primarily used for herding sheep. Known for their striking beauty, Collies typically possess a long, flowing double coat that comes in a variety of colors including sable and white, tricolor, and blue merle. They have a graceful, athletic build, with a distinctive long muzzle and expressive eyes. In terms of temperament, Collies are renowned for being incredibly loyal, gentle, and highly trainable, making them excellent companions. Their affectionate nature makes them particularly well-suited for families with children, though their need for moderate exercise means they thrive in homes with yards, rather than cramped apartment living. While generally a healthy breed, potential owners should be aware of a predisposition to certain conditions like Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) and drug sensitivities. With proper care and training, a Collie will enrich any household with their devoted companionship and bright personality.
