Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. We've had Stevie since August. We met Stevie as a stray in the school parking lot on meet the teacher night. Vet states she is approx 3 yrs old and has had several litters of puppies already. Not spayed or chipped. We have had her fully examined by the vet and is up to date on shots. We have fostered her in hopes to find a good home for her as we already have an American Bull/Pit mix that is best as the only dog in a home. Stevie is very well mannered. Excellent on the leash, house trained, can sit on command and takes her treats gently. She's a great family dog and likes to be around you and the kids. Stevie would make a wonderful addition to your loving home. **** Breed: Pit mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2190760&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
