Description
Dog Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier. Meet Briggs — Your Charming Low-Rider Lovebug! Briggs is a 3-year-old American Bully mix with the cutest “low-rider” build and a big, happy personality to match. At 48 lbs, he’s a little on the thin side right now, but he’s making up for it with extra meals and plenty of enthusiasm - this guy is definitely not a picky eater! He walks beautifully on a leash and already knows “sit.” Briggs takes treats gently and is very treat motivated, which means he’s all set to learn new commands with just a bit of practice (and maybe a snack or two). Most of all, Briggs loves everyone he meets. He’s outgoing, goofy, affectionate, and always ready to brighten someone’s day with his big heart and bigger smile. If you’re looking for a sweet, fun companion who’s ready to soak up love and offer tons in return, come meet Briggs - he just might be the perfect low-rider. If you are interested in meeting Briggs, please complete an Interest Form. An adoption counselor will contact you to schedule an appointment.

Overview:
The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a robust and intelligent breed, originating in the United States from crossbreeding Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs for dog-fighting purposes. Physically, they are medium-sized, known for their muscular build, broad heads, and powerful jaws, typically weighing between 30-60 pounds. Their coats are short and come in a wide array of colors. Temperamentally, a well-socialized APBT is often described as loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a playful and sometimes clownish demeanor. They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred. Notable health considerations include a predisposition to hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and certain heart conditions.
