Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 250. Meet Spencer! At 6 months old, this little pittie mix may only be 25 pounds, but he’s packed full of joy. Spencer greets everyone with full body wiggles, a wagging tail, and plenty of kisses - he even got caught kissing Santa Claus! He’s just a little ray of sunshine Spencer is already mastering his puppy basics. He knows sit, is doing wonderfully with potty training, and is settling nicely into crate training. Spencer adores other dogs and would love a playful canine buddy, but he’d also be happy soaking up attention from his humans. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate pup who’s eager to learn and even more eager to love, Spencer just might be your perfect match! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
