Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Chaz is my 84 year old mother's companion. He was adopted in 2019 from a Tennessee shelter. He is about 8 years old. My mom's dementia worsened to the point she needed to move to Missouri to live with us. They both have lived with us for about 4 years. Recently she had to move to a Memory Care Center to meet her care needs. We have exhausted our efforts to find a home with friends and family. Most were interested in a younger dog. He has a very good temperament and adapted well to an invisible fence. Due to mom having her own living space he has not been crated. My husband and I have jobs with variable hours and he is home alone for long hours. This is not ideal for him or us. **** Breed: Pit bull **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2190797&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
