Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Kix is a handsome boy who is looking for a new home. He's currently with our rescue partner in Louisiana and can travel to NJ if we find him a foster or adopter. For approved adopters, we offer a foster-to adopt trial- giving you and Kix a chance to make sure it's the perfect match before making it official. Kix is a friendly boy who is looking for his forever family. He's approx 1 year old and around 44 pounds. He's a loving little pittie mix who is friendly with both kids and dogs. Kix is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He tested negative for heartworm. His adoption fee is $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. Apply to foster or adopt wagoninn.rescuegroups

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
