Description
Dog Breed: Portuguese Water Dog (medium coat). Meet Lady, a 3 year old female spayed poodle mix. This one-eye wonder takes a minute to warm up, but once she does she is so very sweet and gentle. Lady is looking for her own person and home that will make her feel loved and safe, and in return she will show you endless love and affection. She loved her spa day and haircut and behaved exceptionally for all the new experiences that came with it. If interested, please email: lucy.delosreyessenecapolytechnic.ca

Overview:
The Portuguese Water Dog, or PWD, is a fascinating and active breed originating from Portugal's Algarve region, where they historically assisted fishermen by herding fish into nets, retrieving lost tackle, and acting as couriers between boats. Physically, they are medium-sized dogs, known for their distinctive, non-shedding, wavy or curly coat, which can be black, brown, or white (or combinations). They possess a robust, muscular build and webbed feet, perfectly adapted for their aquatic heritage. Temperamentally, PWDs are intelligent, energetic, and loyal companions, thriving on mental and physical stimulation. They are generally good with children and other pets, making them excellent family dogs for active households, though their exercise needs make them less suitable for small apartments unless adequately walked and engaged. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of breed-specific concerns like hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), and juvenile cardiomyopathy.
