Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Schnauzer / Mixed. Meet Oakley A Spunky Little Sidekick Ready for His Forever Home! Say hello to Oakley, an adorable 2-year-old Terrier mix with a big personality packed into a small, 20-pound frame. Oakley was found off Chisholm Trail in Rockwall County on 11/18/25 alongside another small dog, but no owner ever came forward. After completing his stray hold, this handsome little guy is officially ready to find a forever family. Oakley is bright, alert, and full of curiosity. He is shy at first and just needs a moment to warm up. Terrier mixes are known for their spunky, lovable nature, and Oakley is no exception. He's looking forward to meeting his new family, and being able to enjoy all the affection he can get. At just the right size for scooping up, cuddling, and adventuring with, he'd make a wonderful companion for a family ready to give him structure, love, and plenty of enrichment. He is scheduled for his neuter, microchip, and rabies vaccination on Wednesday, 12/3/25, which is a mandatory appointment in accordance with Texas State law (Chapter 828). An approved online adoption application is required for all meet and greets and to be considered for adoption. If you think Oakley might be the perfect addition to your home, apply today and let this sweet boy show you just how much love a little dog can bring! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
