If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application. Hi, I'm Snickerdoodle, a very cute Shepherd X rescued from Mexico. I am friendly and outgoing and love attention. I know I'm one of the lucky ones; one minute I'm living on the streets alone, trying to find food, water and shelter. Now I'm with people who care about me, giving me food and giving me lots of love. I need someone who will be patient with me and will give me consistency and trust in addition to lots of love and attention. Where I come from fireworks are very popular. I get very scared and start looking for a way to get away from them. Please don't leave me alone when there are fireworks such as the 4th of July. Please keep me on leash especially if you take me out of a fenced area. Everything is new to me and I can easily get overwhelmed. Since I'm just a puppy, children in the home must be at least 6 years of age. I know everyone wants a puppy, but please be sure you're ready to take on a puppy as it's similar to having a newborn (2-legged kind) in the home. It's a lifetime commitment, not a temporary one where the love and attention wears off after I'm grown. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
