Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Keenan is a young pittie boy that is friendly with all dogs and people. He can be cat-tested if needed. Keenan loves playing with dogs all day. He is quite the flirt with female dogs and will be best buddies with male pups. Most loving pup award for this guy! Keenan is crate and potty-trained but please keep in mind that all dogs may have accidents in a new environment. Keenan's energy levels are in the mid-range. He will benefit from puppy-schooling just like every young dog and because he is so social, he would love to be adopted in a home with another pup sibling. Rescue Story: Keenan was found abandoned on the street. His finder believes that Keenan didn't spend much time as a stray because he was still fairly healthy when she brought him home. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
