Description
Dog Breed: Terrier (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. Catniss and her baby, Peeta, arrived from a kill shelter. The staff begged Judy to take them to save their lives. Peeta has loads of energy and he loves to run and play. 9/13 foster update: Peeta has been with us since he was 3 weeks old. We have 4 dogs and think he would do good with another young dog of his same size and energy level. Peeta does well in his crate at night and when alone during the day. He has been fine uncrated during the day while supervised :) He knows that, "Go potty" or "Go outside" means that it's time to go to the back door and go out. He is not housetrained, but is very smart and learns quickly so this should be something he learns in a short amount of time. Peeta has been around kids, but as he has gotten bigger, he is nipping and we reccomend older kids in new home as he is quite strong. Again with attention and training, he should do well. He is a strong chewer and will need lots of durable toys to keep him busy. He is such a sweet boy who will steal your heart~

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
