Description
Dog Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). Adoption Fee: 500.00. Tetanus Magnum has fought harder than any dog should ever have to. He arrived at Doberman Underground critically ill, after a long stay at the emergency vet recovering from tetanus . He was unable to swallow and required a feeding tube to survive. But Magnum is a fighter—slowly, steadily, his muscles relaxed, his strength returned, and the real Magnum began to shine. What emerged was a true working Doberman with tremendous heart and drive. Magnum completed four weeks of board-and-train with our trusted local trainer who specializes in the breed. He learned manners, basic obedience, impulse control, and—most importantly—how to channel his working energy in healthy, productive ways. He is affectionate, loving, and loyal in classic Doberman fashion, but he also requires an active, structured home. Magnum needs and wants a job. He thrives when his mind and body are busy and would excel in agility, dock diving, frisbee, or as a partner for an avid hiker or runner. Because continuity in training is important for his long-term success, we’d like to see Magnum adopted in the Cleveland, OH area so he can continue working with his current trainer. Home Life & Manners Kennel Trained: Magnum enjoys his crate—it gives him comfort, structure, and a place to decompress. House Manners: Does well on “place” for feeding and benefits from a home where furniture privileges are not allowed. Energy: High drive, high energy—this is a working Doberman through and through. Yard: A physically fenced yard is needed to contain his prey drive and continue off-leash training. Walks: Great on leash and heels beautifully. Car Rides: Loves going for rides. No Cats: His prey drive is simply too high. The Perfect Home for Magnum Magnum needs a Doberman-experienced, training-focused home that understands and appreciates the demands—and rewards—of a true working dog. He is incredibly affectionate and bonds strongly with his human, but he must have structure, purpose, and activity to thrive. If you’re looking for your sport dog, your adventure partner, or your next working Doberman… Magnum is your boy. Overview:
The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately. Dobermans can thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation, but their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Regarding health, they are predisposed to certain conditions like Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Von Willebrand's Disease, and Wobbler Syndrome, so responsible breeding and veterinary care are paramount.
