Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua. Adoption Fee: Sponsored. Meet Pita Breed: Chihuahua Sex: Female Age: ~12 years Weight: 8 lbs Good with Dogs: Yes — she coexists peacefully Good with Cats: Unknown, but likely fine Good with Kids: Older children only Good with Men & Women: Yes Food Aggression: None Pita is a tiny, gentle senior girl with a heart full of sweetness. Despite being deaf and blind, she enjoys life in her own quiet, peaceful way. She loves simple pleasures — eating, sleeping, and taking slow walks around the yard. She’s a laid-back companion who asks for very little besides comfort and kindness. Pita does have some medical needs. She is deaf and blind, and she is currently on a kidney-friendly diet. Updated lab work will be done soon to monitor her progress. Because of her sensory limitations, she needs help with daily routines — she is carried outside to potty, brought back in, and placed gently in her bed, much like caring for a newborn. That said, Pita has wonderful strengths: ✨ Housebroken when taken out on a regular schedule ✨ Very loving and calm ✨ Quiet, small, and easy to manage ✨ Doesn’t need to be the only dog and doesn’t require another dog either Her main challenge is that she can be anxious with changes. When placed in a new environment, she may bark or pace for about a week while she adjusts. Once she feels safe and familiar with her surroundings, she settles into her sweet, peaceful rhythm. Pita is looking for a patient, gentle home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by comfort and compassion. If you’re someone who appreciates a quiet companion and has room in your heart for a special-needs senior, Pita will reward you with unconditional love and the softest little presence by your side. Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
