Renee is a sweet little cuddle bug who absolutely adores being with her people and makes friends everywhere she goes. On walks, she’s social and happy to greet new faces. At home, she’s your loyal shadow—following you from room to room and even standing “bathroom guard” to make sure you’re doing just OK in there. Renee’s absolute favorite things in the world? Cuddling and chew toys. She can settle in and entertain herself with a good chew for ages, all while making her adorable little snorts that will melt your heart. She already knows sit and once she’s fully decompressed, she’ll be ready to learn even more. She’s dog-friendly and squirrel curious, but she’s easily redirected and eager to please. Renee’s dream day would be visiting a place filled with friendly people ready to offer pets and treats for her excellent “sit,” followed by a cozy cuddle session on the couch with a durable chew toy. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
