Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Brooks! He is an 11 pound bundle of kisses, snuggles, tail wags, and joy. He has only been with his foster parents for a few days so they are learning more about him each day. He is a very happy boy! Brooks loves attention, lap time and hanging out on the sofa snoozing. Everyone he meets gets “Brooks Kisses.” He is very attentive to his foster parents and follows them all around the house but he is quite content to snooze on a blanket when he decides they are doing nothing of interest. Brooks walks great on a leash and loves going for walks and car rides! Brooks does great in a crate and sleeps through the night. While only about 9 to 10 months old, he has not shown any interest in toys or zoomies; but he is still very new at his foster home. He is well behaved and doesn’t chew on anything. Brooks is doing great at potty training. He doesn’t yet ask to go out and will need a person who is dedicated to taking him out at regular intervals throughout the day. Brooks will be a great love-bug companion dog ready for travels, adventures, and lots of snuggles. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered (if they are old enough) before they leave the shelter. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
