Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet Aurora, a sweet and gentle soul residing in a local shelter. Despite her shyness, Aurora's playful and mellow nature shines through, especially when she's around her favorite toys or enjoying a car ride. She LOVES to be with people and get all the lovins she can! We feel she would do great in a home with kids considering her demeanor and love of people she has met at the shelter. Though she may need a little extra patience due to her under-socialization, her friendly demeanor makes every moment worth it. Aurora is looking for a forever home where she can blossom fully and share her boundless love. Consider opening your heart and home to Aurora; she promises to be a loyal and joyful companion. We are unsure of her with cats so slow and patient introductions is best. We will require a dog test with any current pups in the home. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
