Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. JoDee — the happiest little shadow you’ll ever love! JoDee is a sweet, social puppy who was found running at large in southern Illinois and hasn’t looked back since. This girl adores being with her people—on the couch, in the kitchen, at your feet, or anywhere you go. If you’re around, she wants to be right there with you. JoDee loves other dogs, loves gathering every toy in the house, and loves snuggles just as much as playtime. She’s good with cats too—though she thinks they need a little “herding” from time to time. She’s housebroken, sleeps quietly in her crate at night or when no one’s home, and is learning that loud noises aren’t as scary as they seem. She’s not a fan of being crated while you’re home (fair!) and she does have a big puppy bark, but her joy and loyalty shine brighter than anything else. If you’re looking for a happy, loving companion who wants to spend as much time with you as possible, JoDee is your girl. She’s ready to follow you, cuddle you, and cheer you on in everything you do! Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
