Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff (short coat). This gorgeous boy is Bubba! He is a 1-2 year old Mastiff (perhaps Cane Corso), weighing about 100 pounds. Poor Bubba was scared and shut down in a crowded shelter but is quickly coming out of his shell. Bubba is a truly special boy. He is so sweet and extremely affectionate. Although still a little reserved, we have seen his silly playful side too! Bubba has been friendly to everyone and seems to bond very quickly. Once he feels safe with you, you can expect to have a very large dog in your lap! Bubba will need someone who is willing to be patient and go slow with him as he acclimates to a new family and a new life. Bubba has shown no interest in other dogs. We are looking for a relatively calm home with no other pets for Bubba. We believe he deserves to have all the focus and attention on him without the stress of other pets. Bubba is microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He will be neutered upon adoption. If you’d like to meet Bubba (and have the kind of home we believe he needs), please fill out an application on our website at Rescueridge. If your application is a possible match, a volunteer will reach out to you to schedule a meet. Bubba is located in Monmouth County, NJ

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
