Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Oksana is ~18 months old, her mother is a great pyrenees and her father is unknown. She is spayed, knows basic commands like sit and lay down, recalls well, and is kennel and house trained. She knows her commands in Russian, but I am happy to provide help with pronunciation. Oksana has moderate anxiety, and often take a bit to not hide from new people. Once she's had a chance to warm up to someone on her own, she becomes very affectionate. She is playful, but is content spending time indoors if that's where the people are. She has been around and been fine with older children/teens, goats, and house cats. Oksana has bad behavioral issues with other dogs. She will frequently hide from another dog and then, without provocation, attack it. She has gotten into 5 dog fights, and the last one about a week ago was pretty bad and required my intervention to break it up. I am concerned about her living with another dog, and she certainly needs behavioral training and a dedicated owner that I can't provide. **** Breed: Mixed **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2191095&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
