Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Meet Scooby! How can you resist that adorably derpy face? Scooby is a big, goofy, and sweet boy -- about 2 years old and 75 pounds of pure love! We think he's a shepherd mix, though that's just our best guess This young pup still has plenty of puppy energy, but he's also a great listener and eager to please. Scooby would thrive in a home with a yard to run and play in, regular walks, and a human who doesn't mind an XL cuddle buddy at the end of the day. Because Scooby is still working on his manners (especially with jumping), he'd do best in a home without small children. With consistency, exercise, and love, this boy is sure to make someone an incredible companion! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
