Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Chanel, Siberian Husky, Tan and Gray, Female spayed, 3-4 years old Chanel is a beautiful girl who enjoys going for her walks, and loves to get attention and just be near you. She would do best in a home with children over the age of 5 years old, as younger children may be too much for her. She has lived with another dog before but may need some time to warm up to new doggy companions. She doesn’t seem to mind cats. **This dog is at the Ocean County Animal Facility North located at 615 Fremont Ave, Jackson NJ (off of Hope Chapel Rd). All dogs are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and have age appropriate shots.** To adopt our dogs you must come to the facility with your entire family, including dogs, to meet with our staff and the dog you are interested in. We are open to the public seven days a week between the hours of 1pm and 4pm. Please call our facility at 732-657-8086 for more information about any of our pets!

The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
