Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Good things come in small packages, and a bit of mystery only adds to the excitement of discovery, so adopting Lonnie the little mixed breed stray who was found by a Good Samaritan, is a wonderful way to celebrate every day. Lonnie looks like a mix of Boston Terrier and Pug, with her big ears and flat muzzle, although nobody can be sure of her background. She is a small dog at a petite 15 pounds, and she will remain a small dog (10-31 pounds). Lonnie is a sweetheart with big ears perfect for hearing all the good things folks will say about her when they get to know her. She is fine with dogs and children. It is not known if Lonnie enjoys cats. Lonnie is working on her house and leash training. It is important to remember that rescue dogs can have accidents as they become accustomed to a new home, family and routines. If crate training is planned, Lonnie requires a crate big enough for her to stand and turn around in as well as lie down comfortably. Crates should be cozy, happy places for dogs to hang out and must never be used for punishment. Open your heart and home to Lonnie and be rewarded with a new best friend to brighten hearth and home. * Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust significantly better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Lonnie is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
