Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Mila's story began with heartbreak. She was first seen lying beside her dying mother on the street. By the time we reached the location, 36 hours had passed. Her mother was still alive but took her final breath as we were placing them in the car. In that moment, l made a promise to her mother-to take care of her baby and give her the life she never had. Since then, Mila has been vaccinated and has lived in a private shelter, where she spends her days in a patio setting surrounded by other dogs. She gets along beautifully with everyone-both the older residents and the newcomers. She has a wonderful temperament and a truly gentle, loving nature. Although she has never lived inside a home, Mila is very clean and doesn't pee in her kennel, so we believe she will learn house training quickly. She's also great with people and, while she hasn't been on walks yet, she's smart and will likely pick up leash walking with ease. Mila is ready to find her forever home—a place where she can finally feel safe, loved, and part of a family.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
