Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (medium coat). Meet Burton — the brave, bright-hearted boy with a comeback story as big as his personality.Burton arrived at the shelter after being hit by a car and suffering broken pelvic bones, but this resilient pup hasn’t let his tough beginning define him. With time, care, and a whole lot of spirit, he’s made an incredible recovery — and even learned a very impressive trick: this little superstar can do a handstand walk!Young, sweet, and wonderfully quirky, Burton is looking for someone who understands that healing is both physical and emotional. He needs an adopter who can be deeply patient and let him open up at his own pace. His crate is his safe place, so allowing him to come out on his own terms is the key to earning his trust. It may not be love at first sight, but give him a few days and you'll watch him blossom into the most devoted companion.Once Burton feels safe, he becomes your loyal shadow. He adores snuggling — especially curling up in bed — though he’s a great sleeper in his crate too. He’s an excellent adventure buddy, rides like an absolute angel in the car, and enjoys exploring the world calmly by your side.Burton is making great progress with potty training and gets along well with his foster dog siblings, even playing and walking with them. He’s got plenty of gentle energy, curiosity, and love still to give.Burton is truly special. He’s ready for a forever home where patience, kindness, and understanding will help him continue to grow — and where his sweet spirit can finally shine the way it deserves. Reach out to his foster mom at Hope.mccaslingmail for more information and to arrange a time to meet Burton. Come see more photos and videos of me here:

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
