Dog Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier (medium coat). Pippi has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in her new home. She's also sharing her shelter suite with a friend she met at the shelter. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out her playgroup video here: To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, affectionately known as a "Staffy," is a robust and agile breed originating from 19th-century England, bred for its strength and courage. Physically, they are compact and muscular, with a broad head, pronounced cheek muscles, and a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors. Despite their powerful appearance, Staffies are renowned for their affectionate and gentle nature, particularly towards children, earning them the nickname "nanny dog." They are intelligent, highly trainable, and thrive on human companionship, making them excellent family pets. Their relatively small size and moderate exercise needs mean they can adapt well to apartment living, provided they receive daily walks and mental stimulation. Generally a healthy breed, they can be prone to certain conditions like L-2-Hydroxyglutaric Aciduria (L2HGA), hereditary cataracts, and patellar luxation, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. With proper socialization and training, a Staffy will be a loyal, devoted, and entertaining companion.
