Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Hi, I'm Penelope and I came to the shelter as a stray so not much is known about my past. I was found with a cone on and the shelter quickly realized its due to the fact that I itch and itch until I bleed. I don't have an ear infection and I don't seem to have allergies so the next guess is maybe its from anxiety or there is still a chance its environmental allergies. Either way its life long but the cone helps as needed. I like other dogs but also have a limit. I wouldn't mind a home with a dog but maybe one who knows playing for a little bit is good enough and then leaves me alone. I also don't like to share my food so a dog who is ok with eating separate. I am an all around happy girl who would love someone to teach me how to live in a home with a family. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
