Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff (medium coat). Bert is a middle-aged Cane Corso with a heart as big as his head (and thatâs saying something). He might look tough, but this boy is 100% softieâthe definition of someone's best friend. Despite his size, Bert is an easy walker who loves his strolls and will happily match your pace. Treats are his love language, though with his teeth worn down, it's all slobbery gum chomps and zero bite. Bert came to us as a stray, so his past is a bit of a mystery, but his personality speaks loud and clearâloyal, affectionate, and ready to melt into your arms. He'd do best as the only dog (or with slow introductions to new friends). If you're looking for a big, lovable goofball who'll be your shadow, your cuddle buddy, and your biggest fan, Bert the gentle goober is waiting to win you over, one slobbery kiss at a time. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months). All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
