Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Meet King, a beautiful 3-year-old neutered blue nose pit bull terrier who is hoping to find a loving, patient forever home. Though he can seem loud and a bit anxious in his kennel, it’s simply because he’s eager to get out and explore the world beyond his confinement. King is happiest when out on walks, with his nose to the ground, taking in all the scents around him. He’s quite strong on leash and would thrive with someone who enjoys jogging or running, making him an excellent exercise companion. While he hasn’t shown much interest in toys or fetch just yet, he does appreciate treats and is slowly learning basic commands like `sit.` Affection is something King accepts at his own pace; while he doesn’t seek out pets right away, given time and patience he may form a meaningful bond with his handler. He gets along well with other dogs and is content spending time in the yard near canine friends. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little understanding and space to blossom, please consider opening your heart to King. King has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
