Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 450.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Zelle, or cash only. donateyorkierescuehouston or, if you prefer: our fundraising platform, Zeffy Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. Birkin was surrendered by his family when work demanded more time in the office. His perfect home will be a full time at home parent. Birkin has separation anxiety and needs a stable calm home environment. He get's along with other dogs, but prefers to be your only baby. He wants to sleep in bed with you. Birkin is reported to have had seizures. He has not had any in our care yet, and our vet doesn't want to start him on meds until we have a better understanding of their triggers (if any) and severity. His labs were pretty good, with only the T4 being out of range. We have authorized a thyroid panel for insight. Birkin likes toys and will play fetch and enjoys short walks. Birkin is looking for his forever home. A home that, will never abandon him or decide he not important! There is a possibility that seizure prevention meds may be in his future. We just don't know yet. So, if that's a deal breaker for you, do not apply.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
