Description
Dog Breed: Pug / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). Welcome Mutz to CCPAL Rescue. Mutz is a 3-year-old Daug (Dachshund /Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He has an adorable underbit and has really blossomed at the Rescue. He is a quieter dog and has learned to like to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiriesgmail if you have questions. Breed overview
Overview:
The Daug, a delightful hybrid resulting from the cross between a Dachshund and a Pug, offers a unique blend of its charming parent breeds. Originating from designer breed programs aimed at combining desirable traits, the Daug typically inherits a compact, sturdy build, often with a slightly elongated body reminiscent of the Dachshund and the distinctive wrinkled face and curled tail of the Pug. Their coats vary but are generally short and easy to maintain. Temperamentally, Daugs are known for being affectionate, playful, and often quite clownish, making them excellent companions. They tend to be good with families, including children, and adapt well to apartment living due to their moderate exercise needs. However, like both parent breeds, they can be prone to certain health issues such as respiratory problems (brachycephalic syndrome from the Pug side) and back issues (intervertebral disc disease from the Dachshund side), requiring owners to be diligent about their care and regular veterinary check-ups.
