Description
Dog Breed: Husky (medium coat). Who looks like milk and cream, sugar and eggs, with a little nutmeg and cinnamon? Our beautiful, blue-eyed Eggnog of course! She's a little timid at the noisy shelter but relaxes when taken for a walk. She likes to sit close and have her head scratched and was just fine being brushed. She just needs a quiet place, with love and attention, and she'll become the outgoing, happy pup we know she can be. Come meet her and give her what she needs! She'll love you for it and look at you with adoration with those hypnotizing bright blue eyes (see pictures below). All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months). All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
