Description
Dog Breed: Jack Russell Terrier (Parson Russell Terrier) / Mixed (medium coat). MY ADOPTION FEE WILL BE WAIVED 12/08-12/14! This little lady is looking for the perfect home to relax in her golden years! We do not know much about Dakota's history, but we do know that she is enthusiastic to cuddle up with her favorite people. She can be a bit nervous of close handling and will need understanding adopters who can read her body language and go at her pace. She is not a big fan of other dogs and would prefer a home where she can be the center of attention- she will request that you use both hands to pet her! She could live with older kids who could respect her boundries and participate in her training.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
