Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Sam is looking for his forever home. He is with our partner rescue in Louisiana but can come to NJ if we find a foster or adopter. We do offer a foster-to-adopt trial to approved adopters. Meet Sam! When this adorable boy was rescued, he was found alone in someone's yard - just 2 pounds with no hair and a whole lot of healing to do. But this special boy never lost his gentle spirit. today Sam is healthy, happy and absolutely loving life. Despite being a puppy, Sam is surprisingly calm. He adores attention, naps peacefully in his open crate and fits right into a busy home full of other dogs. he's grown up surrounded by canine buddies and he's a pro at using the doggy door to go out during the day. Sam has come so far and he's looking for his forever family to complete his journey. Sam is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $550. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
