Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Adoption Fee: 350.00. ____________________________________________________________ Coordinator: Carol Aulick Athena is a very sweet senior girlie currently located in Oklahoma. Athena was brought back into rescue when her owner could no longer care for her due to serious health issues. She is food and toy motivated and she knows some basic obedience and understands how to play fetch (easily returns with the ball). She has a lovely temperament. She loves nothing more than to be close to her humans. She will stick to you like glue and will follow you everywhere. The vet even remarked about how sweet she is. She gets along with other dogs - she is currently living with a male Malinois. She will not be placed in a home with cats or small critters due to her prey drive. She is a very smart girl and is opportunistic and came to her current foster as a counter-surfer. They are working with her to curtail this behavior. She has lots of personality and you will never find a more enjoyable companion to share in your everyday adventures. She will be by your side through thick and thin. If you would like more information on Athena, please contact her coordinator, Carol via email at caulickmalinoisrescue To fill out an adoption application for Athena, please fallow the link below: .malinoisrescue/forms/form?formid=6574 ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
