Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Meet Buttercup ~ Buttercup is a sweet, curvy girl with a big heart and an even bigger love for treats! She’s gained a little extra weight during her time in the shelter (kennel life), so she’s ready for a home or foster that will help her enjoy some walks, fresh air, and fun adventures. Buttercup is easy to walk on a leash, especially when she’s with her best friend Reese—the two are inseparable and clearly bring each other comfort. She would absolutely thrive in a home where she can continue getting gentle exercise and plenty of love (and snacks… did we mention she loves treats?). Buttercup may do best as an only pet or with her trusted buddy Reese, as she hasn’t shown much interest in other dogs or cats so far. She’s a loyal girl who bonds deeply and would love a calm, understanding home where she can feel safe and secure. If you’re looking for a sweet companion who just wants love, snacks, and strolls with her favorite person (and maybe Reese!), Buttercup is ready to blossom in a foster or forever home.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
