Description
Dog Breed: Husky. Meet Rowdy Rowdy is a gentle senior Husky looking for a loving hospice home to call his own. He’s been with us for quite some time, and despite his name, this sweet senior is anything but rowdy these days. "I still have a little pep in my step and love going for short walks or exploring all the wonderful smells outside. I dream of the simple things — a warm bed, gentle hands brushing my coat, and someone to share quiet evenings with. I’d love to lay next to you and just talk about our day.” Rowdy has cancer, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting to give and receive love. He still has so much life and heart left to share, and we’re hoping someone special will see the hope in his eyes and give him the chance to experience the comfort and care every dog deserves. If you think you could give this handsome gentleman in the black-and-white coat his final, loving home, please email us at MurrayCountyHumaneSocietygmail . Until then, Rowdy will be patiently waiting — dreaming of soft beds, warm baths, and the feeling of belonging. ❤️

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
