This 2.5‑year‑old mixed‑breed beauty is on the hunt for her forever family and promises to bring brains, laughs, and love with her. Kaia is very smart (we suspect honors classes). She’s fully house‑ and crate‑trained and loves learning new things. Training sessions? Yes please. Tricks? Bring them on. Future agility star? Honestly… very possible. If you enjoy engaging with your dog and showing off cool skills, Kaia is ready to impress. Socially, Kaia can hang. She enjoys other dogs and could live with a friendly, playful pup—or she’d be just as happy being your one‑and‑only as long as she still gets playdates. She’s a Mischief Managed daycare alum (résumé strong). Fair warning: she can get a little extra enthusiastic when she sees dogs on leash, so a fenced‑in yard would be her dream setup. Kaia is active and playful, but she’s not a “go everywhere, do everything” dog. Busy patios and breweries? Hard pass. Quiet hikes, yard games, and then crashing on the couch for cuddles? Absolutely yes. She knows how to turn it off and snuggle like a pro. Kaia is looking for an adult‑only home with no cats (she’s just not into that lifestyle). She wants a family who will give her structure, attention, and lots of love—and she promises to give it all right back. Kaia’s Story Kaia was adopted as a puppy and raised with tons of love, training, and socialization. Due to a work relocation out of the country, her family had to make the heartbreaking decision to find her a new home—but they made sure she was set up for success. If you’re looking for a smart, playful, loyal companion with a big heart and zero interest in your IPA tasting flight, Kaia may just be your perfect match. Apply to meet her today—we think she’s pretty awesome ️ This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: .sosarl/aa/ * *Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
