Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. MAISIE - 1-5 years old, 50 pounds, house trained, high energy! Return resident Maisie is full of energy. She loves to run, chase and play. She's up to date on all shots, flea/tick & heartworm prevention, spayed, and microchipped. She loves children of all ages and loves to snuggle. Maisie was a regular in our shelter playgroup her first stint in the slammer and has rejoined this time as well. She loves to run and chase other dogs but seems she needs to be the only dog in a home. *Note She is very vocal when playing! Maisie can clear an 8 foot fence easily so she needs to be watched when outdoors. This medium size girl is white with areas of grey here and there. She also loves to roll in the dirt and mud so get ready for the white on her to turn grey as well! HAHAHA Maisie is a fun girl looking for a family to match! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
