Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Cane (AL) is a neutered male Pit Bull Terrier mix whose age is estimated to be 2-3 weeks old at the time of intake in early December 2023. Cane is up to date on core vaccines (age-appropriate) and is microchipped. Cane is good with people of all ages, including kids, other dogs and even cats. He's even pretty good with free range chickens! Cane was just a baby when a monster tried to drown him in a lake. Fortunately, a good samaritan intervened and saved Cane and we took him into our rescue. Cane is a gorgeous, two-toned pup with a two-toned nose to top it off! He is adorable, happy, playful, sweet and funny. He loves to hike and play. If you are looking for a family dog, a companion dog, or a hiking buddy, Cane is your guy! Please apply online to adopt Cane (AL) at .rescuedogsrocknyc. His adoption fee is $500. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
