Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). INTAKE DATE: 8/17/24 CURRENT WEIGHT:66 LBS Kira hasn't had the easiest time of it - she was adopted from AFA in 2021, only to be returned three years later, where she still waits, a year past that date. Kira is a 7 year old female Pit Bull Terrier mix who is sweet as can be and has the energy and joy of an adolescent - just with better manners! She honestly didn't have any problems at her first home EXCEPT she would prefer to be your one and only. Kira isn't super fond of other dogs and would prefer to 'admire' them from a distance rather than share her bed with them! Besides, Kira has a big enough personality that she will make you forget the idea of having another dog! WHY, when you already have such perfection????

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
