Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 425. Hi, I’m Flex—a pup with a heart as big as my smile! I’m all about snuggles, tail wags, and bringing joy to everyone I meet. My energy is a good mix of “hooray, playtime!” and “time to stretch out and relax.” I would thrive in a home with another dog that loves to wrestle and goof around in the yard! I may have a slight limp from a past hip injury, but trust me—it doesn’t slow me down one bit. My foster mom says I’m a fast learner, and I am an eager student when it comes to training. I’m so comfortable in my crate and always head outside to go potty. I’m super patient with kids but I think chasing cats would be too tempting, so no cats for me. Walks are tricky for me because of how much I want to chase, well, everything, so I get plenty of exercise running around in the yard with my favorite toys. I’m just a big lovebug with an even bigger heart, and I can’t wait to find a forever family who’s ready for a loyal, goofy, treat-loving best friend. Interested in adopting this lovable animal? A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
