Description
Dog Breed: Great Dane. LOCATION: Mount Wolf, PA DOB: 12/12/2022 Meet Harley Harl Moose, a striking harlequin Great Dane with a big presence and an even bigger personality. Once a stray with a difficult past, Harley has come a long way thanks to steady routines, thoughtful training, and a foster family dedicated to helping him feel safe. He’s made wonderful progress, but he isn’t a one-size-fits-all companion—he’s searching for a very special person who understands that dogs like him thrive with patience, structure, and calm consistency. Harley is a true survivor who received all the medical care he needed, including treatment for severe “happy tail,” which resulted in a tail amputation. He’s now healthy, strong, and proudly mastering his training. He responds beautifully to cues like “leave it,” knows his basics, and is house-trained, crate-trained, and reliable on leash. He feels most secure in a low-stimulation environment where days look and feel predictable, and he’s muzzle-trained for everyone’s safety when he’s out of his crate. Because he can be territorial and reactive toward other dogs, Harley will need to be the only pet in the home, and he’s most successful in a quiet, adult-only household. When things feel overwhelming, he’s wonderfully self-aware and will calmly retreat to his open crate to reset. Harley’s perfect match is someone experienced in behavior management and slow introductions—someone who values structure, understands his boundaries, and sees the potential behind his tough beginning. He’s currently taking Fluoxetine to support his anxiety, and with the right guidance he shows more confidence every day. He loves relaxing on the couch, looks distinguished in his Carhartt jacket, and is always up for a golf-cart ride with his favorite humans. Harley Harl Moose isn’t looking to charm the masses. He’s searching for his person—the one who isn’t intimidated by a dog with history and who believes that commitment and patience can build something truly meaningful. If you’re ready for a loyal companion who will rely on you just as much as you rely on him, Harley might be exactly the partner you’ve been waiting for. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . Overview:
The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
