Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). MATILDA - 6-9 years old, 40 pounds, friendly, very playful, good on leash, needs to be an only pet. Straight up ears? Check! Deep full-of-expression eyes? Check! Stout muscular body? Check! Silly circle runs? Check! Matilda was found in Munden Point Park. She was alone and on her own. She’s looking for a new family who will indulge her on walks in the park and playtime in a yard. She is at first quiet and cautious in the shelter cage but once outside, she is goofy and silly. She runs, she plays, she gives you some crazy looks as she charges around almost slamming into you but barely missing. She is a hoot! Matilda has some thinning fur on her back and tail. We will update this bio with information as we learn more about this cute girl but until then, come on in to meet her! Matilda is currently in a back kennel so if you don’t see her, please just ask.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
