Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). VIOLET - 2 years old, 52 pounds, friendly, No other pets. Violet is a 'get-me-outta-this-cage' girl who prefers to be right next to you rather than not. She is friendly and happy - don't let her serious expression fool you. Violet sat for treats (kinda) and got super excited to chase the tennis ball. She started out bringing it back for treats and then got to where she chased it, picked it up, dropped it and then ran back to me for treats. Silly girl! Violet arrived with some cuts and scrapes all over her with some swelling as well. She has been vetted and is currently being cared for as her healing continues. That's about all we know about this sweet girl so as we learn more, we will update this information.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
