Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Rick! He is a little over a year old weighing around 60 lbs. He was surrendered after his family had a change in living / working situations and it was for Rick’s best for him to find a new forever home. Rick is a very active boy who could run and play fetch for hours ! He’s done very well with other dogs and cats in his foster home. He is house broken and crate trained, as well as having amazing house manners. Rick is great for car rides / road trips too. He would do best in an adult home or a home with older children as he hasn’t been exposed to many young kids. But if you’re looking. For you next adventure buddy Rick would be a perfect match. Please note before applying if you rent your home / apartment that your landlord allows PitBull breeds. Rick is fixed, up to date on vaccinations , current in a yearly heartworm test (Negative), and on preventative care. His adoption fee is $275 .ajssearchandrescue/adoption-application

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
