Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Patty Cakes! Patty Cakes is a 1-year-old Pit mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. Weighing 47 pounds, she’s up to date on her vaccinations and in great health. Patty has been at the shelter for a very long time but she is staying happy and positive that her forever family is coming soon! Patty is very distinct in her looks. She is a pitbull mix, always with one ear up and one ear down. Patty gets along great with other dogs. For awhile, she shared a run with one of our other dogs, Coupe. Patty will immediately brighten your day when you see her and her smiling face. She loves pets and is the perfect size for snuggling. She truly is the sweetest girl and it hurts our hearts knowing she would be the perfect pet for someone and that she is still waiting. This sweet girl came to us from the local pound and has been settling into shelter life beautifully. In just a few days, she's already showing signs of being a level-headed, grounded companion. She's incredibly attentive to everything happening around her. She loves to ride in the car. She is a bit stand-off-ish towards men, but after a while will be okay. She needs to build trust with men. Patty Cakes loves to play, cuddle, and soak up all the affection she can. All she needs now is a loving home to call her own. Could it be yours? A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
