Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Roxy is a 1 year old Shepherd with the soul of an old dog and the heart of a playful pup. At just under a year old and a perfectly manageable 45 pounds, she brings an ideal balance of gentle calm and joyful energy. She’s great with kids, cats, and other dogs, fully crate trained and potty trained, and loves going for walks. Roxy truly shines around other dogs and would thrive in a foster home with a confident, friendly pup to help boost her confidence—plus she lives for a good romp and play session. Roxy has a soft, affectionate, and eager-to-please temperament. She matches energy beautifully: she’ll play hard with playful dogs until they’re tired, but she’s just as happy to calmly coexist with older dogs who prefer to lounge. She’s incredibly submissive and genuinely loves everyone she meets. She enjoys adventures like the dog park and long walks, but she’s equally content just being close to her people. Like many young dogs, she has a bit of separation anxiety, so she’d do best in a home with someone who has the time and patience to help her feel secure. Once she bonds, she gives her love back tenfold. Sweet, social, and the perfect medium size, Roxy is ready to be someone’s very best girl. Interested in adopting this pet? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
